Are We Trapped In
a Borg-like World?

The Truth of Reality
We create artificial environments for ourselves to shield us from the true reality of nature. The materials themselves contribute to the destruction of our natural environment.
"Its life Jim, but not as we know it." Dr McCoy - Star Trek
Nature once provided everything we needed. It still does if we accept and live by her rules. For previous civilizations, the natural world (which usually
changes slowly) provided a stable framework and therefore a sense of security. In our modern artificial world, human society dominates nature
and changes very rapidly because of technological advancements. Thus, there is no stable framework.
In order for the illusion of a stable framework to exist, the system needs scientists,
mathematicians and engineers. It cannot function without them. Consequently, heavy pressure is put on our children to excel in these fields, which many do so grudgingly.
For example, A recent Silicon Valley survey shocked the computer industry. Adolescents in the heart of the computer industry in the affluent
San Jose, California area are not interested in following their well-paid parents into the field of computer science. In fact, adolescents from small
towns in the Midwest are almost twice as likely to choose a computer science career.
So why do these adolescents from the Mecca of the computer spurn the obvious riches? They see the meaningless lives their parents lead. They
watch them get up early, and race to the office after a few gulps of breakfast only to return home in time to say, "OK Kids, off to bed." And
they watch them do this six and sometimes seven times a week.
When they are asked "do you want to be in the computer business?" they shake their heads no more than anywhere else in the country.
Consequently, the American Computer business is hounding the US Government for more and more H-1 visas so they can sap the intelligencia of other countries in order to continue their expansion.
Our Children Are Being Socialized
Our children are trained to be politically correct, sufficiently docile, highly productive workers so that their behavior cannot threaten the system they
will grow up to work for. They are forced to become a functioning part of the system by believing and obeying the productivity rules of our society.
We are so worried that our children will not fit into society that parents inadvertently over-socialize their children. This over-socialization has lead
to low self-esteem, a sense of powerlessness, defeatism and guilt throughout too many generations. It must be stopped.
There was a seven-year-old boy on television recently that was asked, "When is it okay to kiss someone?" He innocently responded, "The law
says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn’t want to mess with that." A playful kiss on the cheek at this age is not uncommon between two
innocent children in the playground, most people consider it cute. Have the parents of this child over-socialized the poor boy?
Nineteenth century frontiersman had the sense that they created change themselves through their daily actions. Today, many of us believe that
change is forced upon us. This is only true if we wish to remain a slave to the system and succumb to the fear that holds and controls us.
We live our lives surrounded by fear, fear of what others will say or think, fear of losing control, fear of the unknown. All of these fears limit our
existence and prevent us from being what we really want to be. We sometimes find ourselves in situations where we are replaying a recent personal experience in our minds. We imagine ourselves saying or doing
something that we did not say or do, but wish we had. Until we stop wishing we could do things and actually do them without the fear society
imposes on us, we are nothing more than our own imagination. Currently, many of us are not what we want to be. We are what the system wants us to be. The essence of which we really are has been amputated.
Transplanted Reality
As technology progresses, we become more willing to accept a copy of the natural reality that once existed everywhere. Reality is now presented
to us through television, magazines and the Internet. Reality disappears proportionately with speed, and our lives are speeding up. Whenever we
walk somewhere, we have the opportunity to take in everything around us. The reality around us is absorbed into the mind through the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings of what we experience.
When we drive, we distance ourselves from the reality outside by speeding past those experiences at 100 km/h. We drive past the forests and desert landscapes outside without knowing the reality that they
present. We get to our destination and switch on our television to watch the Discovery channel that neatly packages reality into a presentable
one-hour slot. It is an inferior copy of reality in every respect. If we suddenly found ourselves in the forest or out in the desert, we would be confused, lost, scared and probably dead.
We now have the ability to travel great distances at incredible speeds over the Earth. Time changes in different locations throughout the world. We
can lose an hour in a moment, and gain a day in a second. Time is abstract, it is manipulated by the system. They control the UT, EDT, GMT,
EST, PST; they control how old we are down to our last minute. Think of it, how often can you actually go through a whole day without looking at a watch?
Reality Is Skin Deep
Teenage girls buy magazines picturing images of beautiful women that have been computer enhanced to become a copy of what is depicted to
be an inferior reality. These naive teenagers are influenced through the media into thinking they are ugly and they try to become the impossible.
The famous and glamorous celebrities
that represent the successes of the system are used by companies to advertise products to us, the consumers. They know that the identity deficient people in society will purchase the
products in order to provide themselves with the illusion that they are glamorous, just like the celebrities.
Teenagers have succumbed to the companies that control our thoughts. They are more than willing to pay thirty dollars of their hard-earned cash to wear clothes covered in some company’s logo. The
companies have tricked them into believing it is cool to pay for the privilege to act as a walking billboard.
The indoctrination of the population through our televisions, radio and the Internet is seriously affecting our behavior and rationalization processes.
We read the junk mail delivered to our doors, we watch the advertisements on our televisions, we read the billboards on the side of the roads, buildings, buses, and on the people all around us.
"You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake, you are the same decaying organic matter as everything else." Brad Pitt - Fight Club
Our bank balances are the reflection of the tremendous amount of our time wasted for the benefit of a company. All this work is to earn money for the intent of purchasing products that we use to define who we are.
Society wants us to feel special so that we continue to believe in the system. The system helps us to feel unique by offering us products that
only limited amounts of people own. Unique gifts, special offers, once in a lifetime deals and competitions. The impression of being useful is
provided by our jobs, voting systems, donation charities, volunteer foundations, and letters to the editor.
Our governments see us as nothing more than our social security number that is buried amongst millions of other people’s numbers. Nobody is at
the top. Nobody is at the bottom. Everyone is lost in the middle. We occasionally receive letters addressed to us personally, but our names are
only known to them because of the number that is assigned to us by them.

Empower Yourself
The reason why Captain Picard’s crew was able to rescue him from the Borg, was that he managed to sustain his humanity. Neo, like you, chose
the red pill because of our inquisitive human instinct for the truth. Our human instincts of self-preservation are embedded within the very fiber of
our minds. For this reason, there is no need to give up hope. We are always human. We can always change.
"Think like a man of action. Act like a man of thought." Henri Bergson
The first step in any form of rehabilitation is to acknowledge what we have become, and this is a very personal experience. The goal of this article
was not to show you how your life has become mechanized. Rather, it was to show the signs of how you can recognize this for yourself.
Start to look at the world around you and ask yourself, "if all of this went away, could I and those whom I love survive? Or would we lay beached on
the sands of change like helpless carp upon the residual mud of a now empty pond?" We are not as helpless as carp, nor are we soulless like the
Borg. We are human, and we have the power to change.
For those of us who are the most mechanized, the key to our own Borg-reversal process begins with the acknowledgment that we need to reconnect with nature. We need more than just a weekend camping trip
with a car full of technological conveniences.
We need to know that we have the ability to reconnect with nature well enough that we may survive in it without our modern conveniences. This in
turn will require a restoration of dormant senses. This is the most human of all things we can do.
Attending survival seminars and camps are a great way to begin the inner rediscovery process. The knowledge gained will provide you with the
confidence you need to survive under nature’s rules. You will be content, knowing that if a natural or man-made disaster should occur, your chance
of survival without technology will be far greater than the robots.
In the event of a global catastrophe, those who have not started their personal rehabilitation now will be easy to find. They will be walking
around like stunned sheep looking for government handouts and dying. Or, they will become violent and aggressive to a point where the remaining
fragments of government will shoot them down like rabid dogs to keep the peace. Finding those who have reconnected with their humanity and
reversed the Borg-like influences of our mechanized world, will be difficult. They will be living in out-of-the-way places, quietly building self-reliant
communities and their children will not be dying of hunger.
When we open our minds to discover what is happening around us, we can become stronger. In the process, you will come to see the world around you with a broader vision and a new sense of freedom and
humanity that will empower you with the confidence to live a happier and fulfilling life. A magicians trick intrigues us only until we have learnt how it is
done. Knowledge is power and resistance is not futile!
