Is The Crabwood
Formation a Hoax?

The Ugly
Since the Roswell incident in 1947 the debate has raged on as to whether the story is true or not. Yet, one thing that has been universally accepted is
that the American government did its level best to obfuscate the truth through lies and intimidation and these practices became institutionalized with such efforts as Project Bluebook.
Despite all the Machiavellian mind control schemes foisted on the American public by our intelligence agencies, the number of people who
believe in the existence of extraterrestrials now handily exceeds the numbers of those who believe in the longevity of the Social Security system.
On top of this, along comes the Internet and average citizens, who believe in their constitutional rights of free speech, are plunking down their own
money to build web sites so they can express themselves in the largest communication forum in the history of mankind. Before the Internet,
controlling people was easy as independent thinkers and whistle blowers could only express themselves through the mainstream media, which is
controlled. (It's called sponsors, Federal funding and licensing.) All that was needed was a threat to their careers and good names, which usually
did the trick — and still does. However, crucifying someone who is publishing a private web page and not fomenting sedition or violence
requires a different tactic. Enter the disinformation operatives, the ‘Mata Hari' of the Internet age.
Given my experience as a writer for The Millennium Group and as the publisher of YOWUSA, I've seen my fill of these operatives and their
modus operandi is usually the same. They search for private web sites with revealing articles that are growing in popularity. They usually approach the
web site owner as an interested and faithful reader and began offering truly good and verifiable bits of information. I call this phase, "salting the mine."
This is a mining term and what is simply means is that if you're trying to sell a worthless gold mine to someone who doesn't understand mining, you throw some high grade ore into the mine before you show it to the
prospective buyers.
They of course will be so interested in screaming, "Eureka, I'm rich," that they'll fork over large wads of cash with trusting doe-eyes, on a simple
assay of the ore they picked up off the floor of the mine. The salted ore, of course, will show very promising results.
Next comes the play along sleeper phase. After the disinformation operative has ingratiated himself or herself into the web site authoring
group with salted information, the good information will still continue to flow, but at a mercurial rate. Just enough to keep the web site authoring group convinced of their "trustworthy" credentials.
Then a hot story comes along and this is when the operative cashes in on his or her trust fund with really hot, "you read it here first folks" information.
This information is almost always given with the understanding that the operatives identity is not to be mentioned. Once published, the information
weaves its way into the net and begins to work by design. That is, it distracts everyone's attention from the real truth with brain candy that
eventually leads down a series of speculative rabbit holes until everyone is exhausted with the whole topic in general.
For disinformation operatives, building these rabbit holes is expensive in terms of maintaining the unquestioning trust of the web site authoring
group. Hence, these efforts are not made for trivial matters. They wait for something important.
So what does disinformation look like? First off it never passes the smell test unless you happen to be recklessly interested in abandoning a
hard-nosed, scientific analysis of the facts. One possible example, could be the Crabwood formation message encoding posted on the Earthfiles web site.
A Possible Disinformation Ploy
Within a few days of the formation's appearance an article appeared on the Earthfiles web site with a decoding of the disc part of the formation by two ANONYMOUS contributors.
EarthFiles.COM, August 18-19, 2002
Winchester, Hampshire Circular Code Analysis - UPDATED
August 18-19, 2002 - Letter From Earthfiles Viewer who describes himself as, "A large part of my full time
job is decoding ciphers and reverse enginereering (misspelled by author) communication protocols:
MESSAGE CONTENTS (some missing)
This is the deciphering of the message: - "Beware the bearers of FALSE gifts & their BROKEN PROMISES. Much PAIN but
still time. (Damaged Word). There is GOOD out there. We OPpose DECEPTION. Conduit CLOSING (BELL SOUND)
The message consists of 26 Words, interestingly the English alphabet has 26 letters. Another Translator Writes:
An e-mail came on August 19 from another Earthfiles viewer who writes about the "word damage by tramlines" above:
"Maybe that 'EELRIJUE' is the name of the place where it is 'GOOD there.' So, no damaged word, but the name of that place. Maybe a star name? Maybe the name of their planet?"
As a former photojournalist for an Army Public Information Office, let me share with you the aspects of this post that set off the disinformation alarms.
- Anonymous Posters — Not one but two! Let's put this in perspective. Would you turn title on your house and car to someone who signed the check, "Anonymous"? Number one rule of
disinformation: Do not let it trail back to you.
- Questionable Methods that Appear Credible: I reviewed the images of this formation with Robert Heger, a former Senior Engineer from Apple who actually helped Apple to develop CD and
DVD products. His option was that the oblique angles and low resolution of the images precluded any definitive translation at this time. Further, such a translation would require a more substantial
effort than that described by the anonymous author, who, instead of stating his formal credentials created a rather interesting and unverifiable story about himself. The fact that Earthfiles published it
as-is, would obviously give the reader the impression that Earthfiles had done their due diligence. But did they?
- Run the Reader Down a Rabbit Hole: The comment, "The message consists of 26 Words, interestingly the English alphabet has 26 letters," was a dead giveaway. The anonymous author
himself uses the term "Damaged" to describe parts of the message, so how could he get an exact word count? Obviously, the use of an unsubstantiated and therefore unrelated train of thought is an obvious
attempt to distract technically illiterate readers with irrelevant and fruitless conjecture. Which, happens to be one of the most important
goals of disinformation. Get everyone going in every different familiar direction imaginable.
People are lazy and finding the truth usually demands a voyage into
the unfamiliar. Instead, they'll follow familiar and unproductive modes of thought until they finally give up in exasperation.
The folks at Earthfiles work hard to run a good site and I value their work. However, unless someone can prove otherwise, it truly seems that they
have been used by a government disinformation operative for the purpose of killing public interest in the message of the Crabwood formation though fruitless and misleading conjecture.
This question is highly relevant since this shoddy decoding has disseminated throughout the web to become the de-facto encoding. Since
its release, no other credible decoding work has been reported. Nor, have the Crop Circle Connector folks managed to make the necessary images of the formation available for decoding.
So Why Is The Government Afraid of Crop Circles?
Those who are using crop circles to communicate with us are obviously interested seeing their message being sent in the clear and without filtering.
Perhaps this is the reason why SETI is bloody annoyed by crop circles. SETI wants to control the message and since they own all the fancy
hardware who else should do it but them? However, time-and-again, crop circle formations seem to pop up next to their dishes in the middle of the
night and they never have video surveillance tapes to show us how a bunch of pranksters with planks and ropes pulled it off.
One reason why England is favored crop circle locale is that the BBC actually does report the news. This is a simple fact that could be easily
monitored from space along with past episodes of I Love Lucy and Car 54 Where are You?
But is the government any different? Oh yes. With SETI, it is more a case of invested ego. With the government, it is about control. Or more to the
point, a legacy of the Vietnam conflict has been a long enduring phrase, "winning hearts and minds." Even today, we use this phrase to describe the democratization of Afghanistan.
Just try and imagine what would happen if all of the citizens of Earth received an unfiltered and uncontrolled message from another race that
said, "Your governments are corrupt because they all serve the interests of a few. There is a better way."
If your interest is piqued, let your imagination take it from there and you'll quickly form your own understanding of why there is an ongoing concerted
disinformation effort. Additionally, if you see that logic, perhaps you'll also look at crop circles in a completely new way. Maybe you'll even put on your
hard-nosed scientific hat and look for the real facts and depart from the greater masses whose only interest in crop circles goes no further than idiotic films like Signs.
They're talking even though the majority of mankind is sitting around like the three proverbial monkeys who see no evil, hear no evil and speak no
evil. Yet, there is no evidence of evil. Think about it.
